ismoI suppose I might as well post again sometime . . . . To start right off with the organ recital, or its lesser alternative, the misery accordion, the problem is that I haven't been sleeping very well, and this creates a certain lackadaisical attitude as evening falls. Ah, the heck with it, who wants to hear about any of this anyway, I thinks to meself. The main reason for not sleeping is that my stomach is giving me trouble. I eat less and less, hoping to pacify the tummy by giving it a little vacation.
Anyway, the night before last, I slept pretty well. I had been planning to use any extra energy to spring clean like a whirlwind. Haha. Yeah, like that was going to happen. "Bother spring cleaning!" as the Mole said in "The Wind in the Willows." Alas, I couldn't run off to the river and the River Rat as the Mole did. Instead I spent the time agreeably making little boxes full of candy to send to the children and grandchildren for Easter, and the Sparrowhawk mailed them off. Last night, there wasn't nearly enough sleep, and it was partly occupied by a dream in which a fire started and I was quite busy yelling at people to a) get the kids out, and b) put out the fire. As usual, they weren't listening, so I exited both the house and my sleep with a child under each arm, as the fire department of the dream world arrived.
After the rain, my poor dilapidated daffodils began to perk up again! I think they may actually have survived! I'm so happy about that. Indoors, I have an enormous, frilly red amaryllis that came up out of nowhere when I was sure it had finally given up the ghost. This plant has been blooming for four or five years now, without any expert care from me. We should all be so tough and so gorgeous.
