Eclipse -4 Day

We made it. After 7 or 8 hours of driving non-stop in the pouring rain. It's a big country. We drove across three states and never got out from under this weather system. It's also big weather. Halfway across Indiana, the temperature dropped to 38 degrees, and they've issued frost warnings. It is chilly out. After checking in to our somewhat dilapidated Holiday inn Express, we walked across the parking lot to the shopping center and had dinner at Rice Fries, a Chinese restaurant. It tasted good to us after having nothing to eat all day. Tomorrow we will venture out to see what's going on in Sparta, pop. 4300. My brain is more fried than the orange chicken at Rice Fries. I'm glad we're here and no longer in motion.

Yes, we are happy to be clothed and in our right minds and enjoying some hotel scrambled eggs and coffee. Soon we'll venture out under the broad Illinois sky and see what's what.
