Eclipse -1 Day

ismoThe Diva has arrived! Let joy be unconfined! Before she got here, we located the nearby city park and went for a walk there. It is a big mysterious space that contains ballfields, a tennis court, basketball courts, the Humane Society, a children's playground, a large set of bleachers that apparently don't overlook anything directly, and what seems to be the remains of a fairground. We wandered around. The day had turned cloudy and windy. We hope the wind blows the clouds away by tomorrow! Then we went back and sat in the lobby expecting her. An old guy came by and asked if we were on vacation, given that he had noticed we were "hanging around." Err . . . in Sparta? Let's vacation . . . IN SPARTA! I guess some people aren't as excited about the eclipse as we are.
Then she arrived, and we went to another unknown park, the Rotary Club picnic park, and walked around for awhile. The sun had come out, and the sky was pretty spectacular. We went back to the barbeque joint, where I had a burger that tasted the way you always want a burger to taste, but they usually don't. Then the Sparrowhawk took a nap and the Diva and I went back to the city park and watched the sunset from the little garden thoughtfully provided by the Garden Club. The parking lot is completely filled up now. I see they are beginning to arrive . . . .

Date: 2024-04-08 02:47 pm (UTC)When Charlotte and I went down to Tennessee to see the 2017 eclipse, our parking lot actually had a few people camped out in front of their RVs with a whole tailgating scenario going on.
