Let's take it as stipulated that I am a terrible correspondent, and take the bit between my teeth or time by the forelock, or something, and post at least a few words. I just kinda fell off the blog horse during our trip to NC, which is rapidly receding into the unrecorded past, and never got back on. I seem to be so busy, and by the time the day ends, I usually feel the less said the better.

We were home from NC for a week or so, spent on trying to catch up with things and not hardly having time to do my laundry, and then we went off on the road again to attend a dinner, stay overnight with Deb and the Prussian, and visit Tron and the Lumberjack. Tron had mentioned she might like some food items to put in the freezer for when they don't feel like cooking, but it was one day before the trip, so I didn't have time to prepare a variety. I brought her a stack of boxes full of veggie lasagna, and several hunks of banana bread. She has a surgery date now: June 14. We will go back there to assist with transportation for her pre-op on the 13th and then the surgery, and to help the Lumberjack do some shopping. At some point in here I caught strep throat, which kinda messed up the days I had hoped to spend doing work.

But today is a splendid day to commemorate: our 53rd anniversary! We are celebrating by being out of town (again) but this time by ourselves, at the lake. It was a perfectly beautiful day, and we succeeded in visiting several favorite places. The Sparrowhawk carried a folding chair on his back, in case of needing to sit down, and really did an awesome job of perambulating up and down sand dunes. It was very windy on the beach, and the water was bone chilling. I waded out once and just couldn't do it. Then I went out again and this time made the plunge! Twice, in fact. Holy moly, it was COLD. I recognized it as the kind of cold that would just never become fun, no matter how long I stayed in, so I came back out again. It was exhilarating, but I was slightly hypothermic for the rest of the day. We had lots of hot coffee and chicken soup, and now I have on a wool sweater under a hoodie and some fleece pants, and I'm feeling pretty warm again. TTFN, hopefully not for as long this time.

you don't have to, and yet, when you can, you do.
and we are grateful.
