Endosperm of Bluster
Mar. 30th, 2018 10:58 pmIt was a nice day with a bit of sunshine, although it was chilly. There were no bento boxes available, nor could we watch the churchgoers on parade from our spot, but we did go out to a place called Wok and Mortar and had some delicious noodle dishes, and chatted with the counter man. After that, we went across the street to the florist and ordered a corsage as a surprise for my mother, to wear at Easter dinner. While the nice lady in the store was making it up for us, we went for a short walk down to the library. I found an interesting book about living with Parkinson's on the used book shelf for two dollars. I feel resistant to reading anything about it, because I don't want to think about it, but since I have to whether I want to or not, I try to go for some good data. Everyone wished us a "happy Good Friday," which I thought was a little weird, and "Happy Easter." That's western Michigan for you. Since I'm not Jewish, I didn't quite have the chutzpah to wish them a happy Passover in return! Yesterday, I ironed all the good napkins and a green skirt I wanted to wear to dinner. It doesn't have any elastic in the waist, and it seemed a tiny bit baggy, so I just sewed two little tucks into it, one on each side of the back zipper. I did it by hand, thinking it would be easier to take out hand stitches if I didn't like it, but it seems to have worked out just right.
