Today was one of those days when we skip merrily from one device to the next, engaging in conversation with different people. The Sparrowhawk had a meeting this morning to consult with a committee he is working with, arriving home just in time for a Zoom with Deb and the Prussian. I had used the intervening time to take a shower and make bread--my only practical accomplishments of the day. Then I had some chat via text with another friend, finishing up just in time for a Zoom with the Diva. So lovely to see her! She filled us in on what Snow Week was like in North Carolina, and discreetly inquired exactly what the Sparrowhawk's problem had been, because she feels concern when things happen to the Great Old Ones. Here and there as we went along, I moved the bread from one stage to another. I got distracted at some point and let it rise too long. When that happens, it always flops a bit in the oven, so it isn't as nice and fluffy as one might wish. But the good thing about bread is that even when it isn't perfect, it's still bread, and usually tastes all right. Then we had a little FaceTime with Tron, to sing her the Birthday Song and get a view of the really lovely cake she ordered from a local baker, before it was lit and eaten. Again, so wonderful to see her and the Lumberjack, and so sweet of her to share her cake moment with us!

Then we bolted a very wee bite of dinner before I was picked up to go and visit with another small group of friends. I had suspected they were planning some birthday celebration, and they were! They plied me with chocolate raspberry ice cream and fresh berries, and told me things they appreciated about me that were very sweet. We also learned that Calaveras' new grandson, who was born six weeks early, was able to come home from the hospital this very day, and that thanks to the snow days, Strawberry Star was able to finish making her beautiful hawk feather fan. So things were good all around. Madame called me too, but I was unable to pick up because I was engaged with other people! I will call her tomorrow.
