Angler of Bliss
Apr. 14th, 2025 08:34 pmThe Sparrowhawk still isn't feeling quite up to snuff, but he's doing better. He skipped both the money counting this morning and the gym tonight. While I was having another conversation with Queenie, he took a nap. He still hasn't been eating, but he had some chicken bouillon and a few spoonfuls of jello, and some ginger ale. He's a bit more chipper, too. And he finished the taxes, which I consider an amazing feat. What we owe the feds almost exactly equals what the state owes us, and the margin between the two is about equal to what we must pay the city. So it's all pretty much a wash, but the checks still have to circulate around. Queenie is taking a class for which she was requested to write about her "formative experiences." We had a shared fit of dark laughter discussing some of those experiences that we would not care to share with the class.
I put away some laundry. I got online and commanded Easter chocolate to be sent to the Philosopher and his family. I'm pretty sure they don't let Aquinas eat sugary treats, and they don't eat very much of it themselves, but each year I send a small package because it's the principle of the thing. For occasions like Valentine's Day, I sometimes send things like nuts and fancy teas instead of sweets, but on Easter there's no substitute for chocolate bunnies. I went to the chocolate store and got more bunnies to add to the things I'd already laid in for the other kids. I got some boxes and packed everything up. The Sparrowhawk helped by taping them up and putting on the address labels. We can mail them tomorrow. I cleaned out the crisper drawer before making salad. Apparently this was my limit. I'm still pretty tired myself.
I see that it's technically time to move into the phase of Bliss, even though it doesn't feel like it yet!
