Peony of Simmer
Aug. 6th, 2025 07:27 pmI did not in fact visit Madame today. I was getting ready to go when I started having stomach cramps and feeling unwell. I don't think there's anything really wrong with me, but it seemed like a bad idea to roll those dice on behalf of the elderly people at her current residence. I called the front desk there and explained who I was and that they should let Madame know I wasn't feeling well today, in case she was anxious about why I didn't come. I don't think that happened, though. She always seems surprised to see me, and she has no idea what day of the week it is any more, so I doubt there were any expectations.
I had a second cup of tea and sat around doing nothing for awhile, and then did some laundry and changed the sheets. While in the basement, I discovered there was water leaking out from under the furnace/AC unit. The Sparrowhawk called our pals at the HVAC company. They sent over a helpful guy who was nearly as perplexed as we were and gave us some very amusing updates on his progress. He finally figured out what was wrong and fixed it (we all hope) at no charge to us because it's still under warranty. Meanwhile, I had two phone calls, one from CeeSquared in Minnesota, who pulled a muscle, was feeling down, and wanted some good cheer, and one from Master J in response to the sympathy card I sent when her beloved dog died. Whoever is in charge of scheduling me apparently knew that I was not with Madame and therefore available for other tasks.
On the one hand, I'm not feeling great, but on the other hand, I have enjoyed being at home.
