ismoIt was another beautiful day. Our weather person tantalized us by showing conditions on the lakeshore, which were, of course, ideal for the time of year! I had planned to accomplish many things today, but I can't say I did. I had my weekly phone call with Queenie this morning, and in the afternoon, the Philosopher called the Sparrowhawk to wish him a happy birthday, a process that had been impeded and postponed during the weekend. We heard many delightful details about Aquinas and his latest adventures.
After the Sparrowhawk did his money counting at church, he took the car in to have the oil pan replaced. They said they thought they could finish the job today, but based on past experience, I doubted it. Sure enough, just before the Sparrowhawk needed to go to the gym, they called to say they were keeping the car overnight. Although we still have lots of leftover barbecue, I needed to cook tonight. I had thawed out some sausages and a chicken in the refrigerator while we were away, thinking I'd cook them up for the potluck when we got back. As it turned out, we didn't get home in time to cook, and I wouldn't have had the strength anyway, so we took some pizza to the potluck instead. And then we didn't stay to eat it because we were too tired. So the chicken and sausages beckoned. I cooked them up together in the big red pot, with carrots, onions, potatoes, thyme, basil, rosemary and sage, and a dash of apple cider. Now we REALLY have too much food in the refrigerator!
Our good neighbor Irish stopped by to give us the packages that arrived on the porch in our absence. I gave him the honey we bought up north to show our appreciation. One of the packages was a birthday present from Tron and the Lumberjack: chocolate covered cherries, cherry BBQ rub, and fun stickers. The birthday week continues! Hopefully, we can celebrate tomorrow by getting the car back . . . .
