Locust of Leave
I've been having too many late nights that encourage going to bed without posting. Not that going to bed necessarily accomplishes anything. On Monday, the long-awaited dishwasher repairman showed up to install the new part that finally arrived. Alas, he did not depart with triumph. Turns out that replacement part wasn't the problem. The pump is cracked and was leaking. So there would have to be a whole new pump, which would take some unknown time to be delivered and installed. Although this would be inexpensive because under warranty, the Sparrowhawk has lost all patience with this appliance, and I am forced to agree. We decided to order a new dishwasher instead--this time, the Bosch that we wanted but which was unavailable when our previous dishwasher broke down during covid time. A day of being defeated by a dishwasher is a good day to order takeout, we thought. So we've been living on mu shu and chicken with vegetables for the last couple of days.
I had a wretched night last night, resulting in a total of about 3 1/2 hours of sleep. So today was a bit of a wreck, and I begged off going to see Madame in favor of a brief nap. I wish I could have taken her out on such a nice day, but then I also wish I could have taken myself out on such a nice day! I could not do anything and was certainly not equal to the perpetual vigilance that is the price of accompanying Madame. She won't really miss me, since she doesn't know it's Wednesday, but I still regret my absence. As we're still enjoying the perpetual illusion of false summer, I'll probably have another chance next week.
