ArcticTern of Shadow
Nov. 14th, 2025 08:03 pmI had to be at my yearly Medicare appointment at 9 am. When I sign up for these things, I always think, "Oh, why not? Might as well get it out of the way early." But when it's time to hustle over there, I suddenly remember why not. Still, it was a pleasant day, sunny and mild, and it was nice to be out in the morning air. My doctor's office is comforting because the people are all familiar and friendly. My doc talks so fast it is unbelievable. She really could pause a bit more often so that one might interject a bit of information, but she's a cheerful soul and I always feel invigorated by a visit. She made a number of suggestions as to how I could improve myself through the magic of chemistry, but they were not mandatory, so I think I will ignore most of them. Since she admits my blood pressure now seems to be acceptable for someone my age, I think I'll just give my whole situation a few more weeks and see if it improves overall. She had my throat swabbed to make sure I don't have strep, and I don't. She says my heart and lungs and neck arteries sound great. She approves most of what I've done. I'll get some more labs done in December, when my insurance will pay for them. Mostly we concluded I'm pretty healthy for a 74 year old. Or for anyone, really! I'm still congested and my stomach still hurts, but I'm just going to give that a little more time and see if it improves.
I stopped in the store on my way home to see if the whitefish was on sale, but it wasn't. So I bought some sushi instead. I was sorry I had done so when I got home and found it was made with brown rice. It may be healthy, but I don't like it. Also a mango to use for cooking later, and three doughnuts to share with the Sparrowhawk. After I had some coffee with him, I went back outside and finished raking up the front yard--four more bags. I was ridiculously tired after that. But the yard looks nice. Mademoiselle has posted pictures of Madame, out of the hospital and back in her comfy chair. She looks MUCH happier. Blessings on Mademoiselle. I know what one goes through with an aging parent whose marbles are mostly out of the box, and it's a lot. I made some leek and potato soup, toasted cheese, and salad for dinner. And then I was so sleepy I could hardly keep my eyes open. Queenie sent me a box of adorable tiny Florida lemons from a friend's back yard. As I told her, they look like little golden eggs from the Lemon Bird.
