My feat of the day was to go out and shovel away the eight inches or so that we got last night. It had stopped snowing, and the clouds had cleared away, revealing an expanse of intense pale blue. The sunlight gilded the edges of every snow-covered branch. It was really the perfect time to be outside. It was also a good time to be out, because after I had been at work for awhile, Daisy from next door came out with her mom. She said "Would you like me to help you?" I said, "Would you like to help me?" She said agreeably that she would, so she got her shovel and set to work. Then Danish, her mom, also got a shovel, and with the two of them helping, the snow flew like mad and the driveway was soon cleared. Then they went off to the grocery store. They really are great neighbors. Daisy wants to take up snowboarding, and I told her I thought she'd be good at that! As I was finishing up around the edges, the Fed Ex truck came by, and got stuck at the end of my driveway. I was going to offer him my shovel, but he had one of his own, and eventually dug himself out. Our street will now be a wreck until the next thaw, or March, whichever comes first, because the city never plows it until it has become a sheet of ice already.

This evening, we had a lovely Zoom with the Diva and talked about our Thanksgivings, and then about the Christmas to come. She has made 260 paper airplanes so far, and gone through a corn maze with her theater people. And received a pie as a gift from a grateful parent. I also texted and had a brief call with Queenie and made sure she and hers were all safely home.
