ismoThe Diva has landed! We joked about saying "I see they are beginning to arrive," as in The Hobbit. But I just looked it up, and found that the first to arrive was Dwalin, and the hood he hung up by Bilbo's door was in fact dark green. I always thought Balin came first, and that his was the dark green hood, but I was wrong. Balin comes second, and has a scarlet hood. The Diva's hat is blue, like the hoods of Fili and Kili, who are third and fourth to appear. Oh well. Still, it is the beginning of the party. And, as always, I am not ready.
We moved some things around. The Diva did the dusting around the piano that I had threatened to do, but she used a Swiffer in a much more effective fashion. I had forgotten that she cleans house for a friend's mother and is more of a pro than I am. I did a haphazard vacuuming of our bedroom upstairs, and a haphazard cleaning of the tub. The Diva helped me make up one of the guest beds. The other was half made, as I was fixing it up when they arrived, but quit in the middle. The Sparrowhawk had a nap. The waterproof mat for the tree to sit on has been placed under the window. The Diva and I went to the store and got a few items. We queried the Nipper to find out if Raptor likes creamy or crunchy peanut butter, and found that he has lost interest in all forms of PB. The Diva made a white bean soup, with kale, lemon juice, and a bit of turkey. I helped a little by chopping up the turkey and squeezing the lemons while she stirred the onion and carrot and added herbs for seasoning. We had it for dinner, with cheesy toast.
We had a surprisingly sunny Shortest Day. You could actually see the sun from one end to the other, from the pale lemon light of dawn to the sunset glow. And now comes the longest night, which I plan to enjoy, since I hope it means an extended sleep. And when I wake up, the day will be a whole three seconds longer! Something to look forward to! Don't blink, or you might miss it!

Date: 2025-12-22 09:14 pm (UTC)I currently am eating vegetable soup with silken tofu, potato, carrot, and green bean which I flavored with garlic some tamarind sauce. I dumped a couple tablespoons of congee into my bowl and it was amazing.
