RedSquirrel of Sleet
Feb. 13th, 2026 08:34 pmHappy birthday, Mr. Science. He would have been 73. He was always two years behind me, and I used to think that, since I was older, maybe some day I would die first and then he would catch up and possibly get ahead of me. But now that will never happen. I will go on and he will stay where he was. In one way, I leave him farther and farther behind, but in another, I will keep heading for the place where he is now. But I don't know how long it will take to get there. As King David said, "I will go to him, but he will not return to me."
Nothing really improves matters today. Thank goodness, at least it was sunny and pleasant. The Sparrowhawk and I went out to our favorite bakery cafe to use the gift card my women's group gave me. I sent some valentines out. They will arrive late, but these days, the USPS doesn't guarantee timely delivery anyway, so the concept of anything arriving on time is meaningless. I choose to blame the system rather than myself.
And then I watched the men's figure skating long program in an effort to cheer myself up. Well . . . the less said the better, in case anyone has not seen it yet. Roll on the Apocalypse.
