Quahog of Sleet
Feb. 18th, 2026 07:05 pmUgh, yesterday was not a great day either. File and forget. I really need a whole night's sleep, which seems hard to get. Today we got up and went off without breakfast to the eye surgeon, where the Sparrowhawk got his other eye done. By which I mean they removed the cataract-clouded lens and inserted a new one. It went well, the surgeon said, and he was a lot less groggy and felt better afterwards. I think they gave him a lot less anaesthetic. I asked the nurse about that, but she didn't know. He had a couple of naps, and then felt good enough that there was some talk of feeling good enough to go to church and get ashed, this being Ash Wednesday. However, he had told me earlier that his distance perception was not good because of having only one eye, and I could see that his balance was not the best. I excused myself from driving him there on the grounds that I am tired and do not wish to take him any more places where I have to be vigilant. He thought that was a very fair statement, and admitted he might be doing too much, so we stayed home. I made a large mushroom and cheese quiche for dinner, with salad.
