Tonight we had the video portion of IsmoCon, and went to see "Ant-man and the Wasp". It was lots of fun, and we even got popcorn, which we rarely do. I loved watching things get bigger and then smaller, bam bam bam, without any thought of dire consequences to the greater universe, because I'm just that childish. It was funny enough that I actually laughed. The only downside was that a large person sat down next to me--large enough that when he dropped into his seat, the whole row of seats leaned drunkenly in his direction. He continued to jump about excitedly in his seat, so the wobbling and swaying went on throughout. It was kind of like watching a movie while sharing a waterbed with a hyperactive St. Bernard. But I am inclined to be forgiving when someone is innocently enjoying themselves with no bad intentions, so I didn't get cranky about it. Although it did occur to me that it would be fun to shrink him juuuust a tiny bit if I had one of those devices. Also, what if you made one piece of popcorn as big as your head, so it was enough for the whole movie, and then you shrank it again in your stomach? Then it wouldn't have any calories. The possibilities are endless.

Last night we had some good panels, including our own version of the E. Nesbit/Edward Eager panel. We're kind of experts on those authors, having read them aloud to the kids so often. They all loved Edward Eager and could recite all the good lines from "Half Magic." We also discussed Why Do the Bad Guys Have All the Good Outfits, which has been done before, but is still fun to consider. And there was a bar panel on the subject of a headline in the local paper, "How To Prep and Enjoy Your Mango," which occasioned a good deal of hilarity. As with all bar panels, you would have had to be there. Tomorrow: the Dealer's Room.
