Peony of Simmer
Aug. 6th, 2018 09:29 pmSUCCESS! The Movie Pass app was working today, and we went out and saw "Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom." I really enjoyed it. It was formulaic, but fun. Awesome scenery. Dinosaurs. Volcanoes. Crooks and liars. Chris Pratt. What could go wrong??? There's one sequence that is going to cause a lot of nightmares, though. They always tell little kids that monsters can't come in your house. . . . Thud . . . thud . . . THUD!!! I would like Chris Pratt to come to my house tonight and protect me from dinosaurs pls.
I spent my childhood being terrified of molten lava--a strange fear, given that I lived in Michigan, which had no active volcanoes last time I checked. I was afraid of a lot of things that may not have been realistic. There were also no boa constrictors in Michigan, and my odds of being tortured by the Gestapo and not being able to commit suicide because Catholic were also slim to none. I was quite terrified of lava, though. I put volcanic eruptions into one of my novels in part to conquer the fear and to indulge my fascination via research. Molten lava, pyroclastic ash flows, lahars--all terrifying. I greatly enjoy the temporary invulnerability granted by the movies.
