On my walk today, I saw a lot of bees, and each one had a full load of yellow pollen on each hind leg. Lots of dragonflies with striped wings flying over the pond. The aspens are dropping a few leaves already, probably because of the heat and drought. We had a little rain shower this evening, but it's not enough. We need a good soaking.

My normal working time this afternoon was taken up with a meeting of our committee and the minister. She has been diagnosed with achalasia and is looking at a pretty radical surgery to replace her entire esophagus next week. It is stressful for her, as one might imagine! We met to discuss various things that need to be taken care of during her recovery, and mainly just to offer support.

I had not heard of achalasia before but it sounds terrifying.
