Aug. 18th, 2018 10:50 pmIf my posts seem depressing lately, it's only because they are. Sigh. August: my garden has gone to rack and ruin. My zucchini plants died fer pete's sake. The one plant that's supposed to reliably over-produce! ZUCCHINI FAIL. Oh the ignominy.
I go on Facebook and I know I should just click "like" for any number of things. But I just can't bring myself to do it. I have Facebook block, too.
Ugh, I could think of several more things to add up to five for the proverbial five things that make a post, but why? They're all depressing. Nothing of interest in real life. Possibly amusing--another wacky dream. I dreamed I was at a con on the west coast, but the con had to be delayed for a couple of days because of hotel availability or some such thing. The problem was that the delay would take us into the full moon, and that's the time when salmon take human form, so we wouldn't be able to eat salmon at the con. Prompted, I suppose, by the issues of diversity and inclusion that have come to the fore recently, I asked, "Do the salmon turn into white people?" I was told, "Of course not! Irish salmon turn into Irish girls, but Northwest Coast salmon turn into Native American girls." Good to have that sorted. . . . I don't know why the dream informant specified girls. I assume male salmon turn into people too, presumably of the male variety, but who knows.
Pursuant to our custom of reading a bedtime story, we're reading from a collection of hero tales that turned up on the shelves. I think I must have bought it at a library sale, for it is battered and worn, and I must have chosen it for the pretty illustrations, because the text is pretty much crap. We read on in amusement, just to see what comes next. So far, we haven't learned much about what makes one heroic. These people are terrible for the most part. The only thing they're good at is killing each other, and sometimes lying and tricking. The Sparrowhawk says their distinguishing feature is that they're all beautiful thugs. That's either my new band name, or my new t-shirt. It could be a story collection, but I'll never write it. Beautiful Thugs and Salmon Girls.

Date: 2018-08-21 12:03 am (UTC)You have clearly identified the reason con running is so complicated.
