Nothing much was accomplished today. Except that as Pooh says in the Christopher Robin movie, "Sometimes nothing is the very best something." We stayed up too late last night, and ended up taking a long nap. This may have been nothing, but it was a good thing. It wasn't possible to go outside much anyway, because there was a tremendous thunderstorm, darkness at noon, with pelting rain. A good kind of day for a nap. I had to get up to call my mother, so we ate some shrimp and pasta, and then watched "The DaVinci Code," because I was in a mood to watch some cardinals get shot. Alfred Molina makes a really good spooky cardinal. If you ask me, they didn't shoot him nearly enough in this movie. And, of course, there's always naked albino Paul Bettany flagellating himself. I like Jean Reno, too--so unfortunate the poor fellow fell into the clutches of Opus Dei. He was better off as a Ronin. And the lovely Audrey Tautou, who gets almost nothing to do except stand around looking bemused and charming. Plus Ian McKellen, who I think was having wicked fun with this role. And, of course, Tom Hanks playing the absurd role of Robert Langdon with such complete seriousness. I wonder if they ever had to do a re-take because he cracked up laughing at his own dialogue! According to family lore, I am a Sinclair on my mother's side, but we don't have any definite evidence that we're descended from the Sinclairs of Rosslyn Castle. You never know, though! I am pretty good at pattern recognition, symbols, and intuitive knowledge of forgotten lore. I might be a secret custodian of the Holy Grail after all.
