This morning, it was not so hot, and the Diva suggested we go for a walk. I'm afraid this turned out to be one of my typical "Oh, I may have overdone it a bit" ideas. Yesterday, Muffinhead went out for a walk, and didn't answer his phone, so his parents used "find my phone" on him and saw that he was headed away from the house, toward downtown. They went and picked him up. He was somewhat annoyed, since he had not been lost, but just wanted to keep going. So I wanted to show the Diva how I used to walk over to the general area he had been to. I used to walk there almost every day, ending up at the coffee shop to work. And then the coffee shop closed for a year for renovations, and the new one didn't seem as welcoming, and I just got out of the habit. I was in a lot of pain from my knee, and had to keep sitting down when there was a convenient bench. The Diva thought that "I may have overdone it a bit" would make a great epitaph.

However, we made it to the coffee shop in the end. The staff there was the greatest--I really liked them, and a few of them are still working in the new place. The guy I used to call "Chief" because that's what he called everyone else was in the back, and he recognized me right away and hollered out "Chief! Hi, how are you?" and seemed really glad to see me. I introduced the Diva, and told them she was staying with me because they'd had to evacuate from North Carolina. The Diva ordered iced tea, and I had a moroccan mint spritzer. When we tried to pay, they told us it was taken care of. So sweet!!

After rehydrating, I made it home without sitting down any more. But as we walked, it started thundering loudly in the west. We just made it back to the nuns' property, a few blocks from home, when the Sparrowhawk texted us to ask where we were, so he could pick us up before it rained. I did not mind riding the rest of the way home. I had to put ice on my knee and drink a lot of ice water. I really enjoyed spending the time with the Diva. She's so kind to hang out with me and listen to my nonsense.

The Sparrowhawk marinated a bunch of chicken for dinner, and while it was in the bag, he closed his eyes for a minute while I chopped up the vegetables for the stir fry. I like the way we get to work together now that he's around more. I think we work pretty well. After dinner, I called my mother, and the Diva kindly did the dishes. Then we watched "Galaxy Quest" with the Diva and Muffinhead. I made popcorn. It was hilarious.

I know this time is so precious--but I can't focus on that or I would just lose it and cry all the time. I have to know it but not know it so I can just live in the moment and act normal. Well, as normal as I ever do, anyway. I told the Diva that every morning when I get up and walk past the rooms where the boys are still sleeping, I feel as if I have a treasure in my house. Like a dragon guarding my hoard!

YES. These are the best parts of life.

I feel that sometimes lounging on the sofa with Ms. 10, both of us playing games on our phones, and occasionally commenting on our progress.
