Burdock of Flourish
Sep. 19th, 2018 10:16 pmSo many days away from home are beginning to wear on the boys, I think. They just want to go home, and there's no definite promise for when they can. Maybe on Friday. So they were kind of dragging around, and it took awhile to get going and head out to the opening day of ArtPrize. They were very good about being taken around all over town to look at a tremendously random assortment of art. That's the fun thing about ArtPrize--it's so individual, and you never know what might be right around the corner. It could be something that makes you roll your eyes, or something that makes you want to stop and stare for a long time. We only saw a few venues today, but there was a lot to think about. You can look it up online and see thumbnails of the entries. This was one of my favorites: http://www.artprize.org/68075
We had been planning to come home for supper, but changed our minds and went to a sushi place in an office tower downtown. I had unagi-don, which is perfectly grilled slices of eel, a bit crispy at the edges, over sushi rice with unagi sauce and some kind of Japanese vegetables. Very delicious. Angelbaby ordered two maki rolls, but he was still hungry, so Kansas went back to order him another one. For some reason, the chef really liked us, and he personally brought out another plate with not just one but TWO rolls on it, and told us the extra one was on the house for us to share. We also ordered some strawberry, mango, and red bean mochi ice cream. it was like a little ice cream dumpling, with the ice cream in the center, wrapped in mochi, and stuck on a toothpick like a popsicle. Very cute and very tasty.
When we got home, I iced my knee and called my mother. Apparently the Diva, the Sparrowhawk, and I were all thinking about making cookies. Angelbaby is the go-to cookie chef, and he cooked up some wondrously crispy oatmeal cookies while we scrolled through more ArtPrize thumbnails online. Art, sushi, cookies, just another day in the life . . . .
