The music group at church is going to be brass-heavy for awhile. We have a new young trombonist who also plays other instruments, and the oboeist has been practicing her saxophone chops. So my violin wasn't an essential component, but I wanted to go in anyway, just to get back into the music. As it turned out, our errant violist, who sometimes shows up and sometimes doesn't, was there today, and he's really good, so we did have a little string section, and occasionally made ourselves heard.

The Diva texted to say they're home. She said that Wilmington is "bedraggled," but their house is fine, and they have power and water. Such a relief!

The Nipper's dog Gonzo, a rescue greyhound, died yesterday. : ( He was an old dog, and his sleek black muzzle had gone silver. He was young when Raptor was born, and was always careful and kind with Raptor, even though he had kind of an anxious personality in general. He used to come and put his head on my knee and gaze at me with a melancholy expression. The Nipper laughed and said we were kindred spirits. We were fond of each other, at least I was of him, and I think that he liked me too. I'm sad that their family has lost a good dog friend.
