Nov. 21st, 2018 11:36 pmLate this morning, at long last, the boil water advisory was lifted, so we can drink the water again! Tron and the Lumberjack arrived in the late afternoon, and the Philosopher came tonight, so we're happy here at the beach. The Diva and Muffinhead slept over last night, and Kansas came out for supper. They go back and forth between here and their house in town. It was a beautiful day, but I had a bit of an internal meltdown at one point for various reasons. I just couldn't stop feeling sad. It's not too surprising in retrospect, since I thought I got a lot of sleep but it turned out to be only five and a half hours. The Sparrowhawk needed a nap and I went up with him, hoping to recover through sleep. However, my phone kept making noises until I got mad and turned it off. I wasn't asleep anyway, so I got up and went for a long walk on the beach. It was very soothing. The tide was coming in with all its little fingers of foam running up the beach and then retreating, leaving a little chevron of ripple and shadow behind each shell and pebble. A sandpiper kept me company, dashing ahead of me and then skimming aloft and over the waves and back. I found a beautiful whelk shell that was completely unbroken. And when I got back, Tron and the Lumberjack were here.
The Nipper made pizza for dinner, and then the Diva arrived back from a trip home, bringing a couple more pizza crusts she'd made and put in the freezer. We had sausage, pepperoni, mozzarella, pizza sauce, feta, mushrooms and basil and various combinations were created and eaten with salad. The almost-full moon rose through mist in the east as the setting sun turned the mist in the west to gold. I had to try pretty hard to get hold of my mother, and she was pretty wacky with the phone again, but she's out of the hospital and back home in the assisted care. She'll have to go back in after Thanksgiving for a cardiac catheterization, and then the valve replacement, if she continues her resolve to get it. The Duchess and Duke will have dinner with her tomorrow. After I talked to her, we played Yahtzee while waiting for the Philosopher to arrive. He's here now, and the crew is almost complete.
