Jan. 20th, 2019 08:39 pmEating a nice bowl of hot soup while watching the full moon rise outside the window, through the clear, ice-cold air, is a cozy feeling.
It was definitely a better day today, in spite of a night of acid reflux followed by mental acid reflux, to the point where I was thiiiiis close to just getting up. It was cold outside the covers, though, so I hung in there and eventually went back to sleep. It seems I always want to sleep late on Sunday, but I had to get up for music group. My violin normally stays in good tune, but when I checked it this morning, I was startled to find it completely messed up. When I finally got it back in tune, I wrapped it in a blanket to protect it from the 1 degree temperature outside. The music went well. Our final piece was "Wonderful World," and that was a mess because we didn't get to rehearse it, the oboeist had the wrong music, etc. We didn't get to rehearse "Shine on Me," either, but it swung along just fine. I like that one. It's happy music. The other pieces were good, too.
The good thing about the frigid weather is that it cleared up the sky. I enjoyed looking out at the sun gleaming on snow crystals, and the deep blue, clean-cut shadows. We took a nap this afternoon so we'd be able to stay up for the eclipse, and we're very hopeful it will actually be visible for a change!
