Lopseed of Zenith
Jun. 9th, 2020 10:37 pmI only slept for five and a half hours. I'm surprised I'm still awake, but there it is. It was nice to be up early before the heat arrived. I dashed over to the old folks' early hours shopping time. It's not really clear if they're still doing that. The lane markers are still in the aisles, and the workers are all masked, but the customers seem confused about whether the restrictions are still in force. But good news! I saw an infallible omen of hope! The toilet paper is migrating back to its nests! I bought a whole pack of my normal brand today! Lots of other things are still missing, including yeast, but I have some. I got back in plenty of time to have coffee with the Sparrowhawk before he went to his PT appointments. While he was out, I went for a walk down the Fancy Street where the big houses are. There isn't a sidewalk as such, but the residents have created a narrow asphalt walkway, probably for their own convenience in dog walking and such. One of the owners has planted peonies all along the front of the property--all different shapes and colors, so fantastically beautiful, robed in silk and taffeta and crowned with gold. Every year when they're blooming, I try to walk down there and admire them. The Sparrowhawk came home from his appointment feeling energetic and speaking LOUDLY as instructed! People with Parkinson's tend to lose both volume and variability of tone. His voice is still WAY more expressive than expected, so he's doing really well with that. Maybe our beloved habit of reading out loud to each other helps.
I washed some tablecloths and napkins. By this time, it was 90 degrees out, and I thought it was a pity to run the dryer in such weather. I don't have a clothesline, but I have a little drying rack on the back porch for the small stuff, and I draped the tablecloths across the chairs on the porch. We're having the skirts of tropical storm Christobal trailed across us, so the clouds kept going in different directions, and the wind and rain coming and going. They kept saying we'd have a storm, but it hasn't amounted to much so far. When I started typing this, a downpour was rattling on the roof, but it's gone now. Before it started raining, I took my laundry back inside. It was almost completely dry, so I hung it up in the basement to finish. The basement is not damp now, with our magic waterproofing system. I want it to rain tomorrow, so I can work on some things inside without feeling that I'm wasting the day. Whenever the sun shines, I have that Michigan native's compulsion to GO OUTSIDE QUICK, before it snows or something!
