Just having the feeling that if I wrote about what I did in a day, it would sound pathetic . . . though that's partly because of my discretion. I have to keep a few things to myself. Today, the sun came out--yay! It was 18 degrees, with a chill feel of 9, but the sun made all the difference. We went over to the small-l lake to walk around, to get the benefit of the full expanse of intense blue sky. Such a lovely and rare color that one just can't stop gazing at it. It should have turned my eyes blue, but it didn't. Hardly anyone was out. The path was tramped down nice and flat, but not icy. We walked out onto the frozen lake a little way. At the end of the dock, I brushed the snow off a bench and put my scarf down to provide insulation for our Sitzfleisch, and we sat and gazed out over the lake. It was nice to have the place all to ourselves.

One of my little projects of the last few days has been going through some more old notebooks and labeling them in easy-to-see chronological order. As I was doing that, I was looking for a pesky piece of writing that had disappeared. I thought I'd written the ending to a story, but I can't find this piece of writing, if indeed it ever existed. However, I did find the notes for it, which was quite a satisfaction. I also found a poem I'd never typed up, and added it to the archive file. It's not great, but it has a few good lines that I'm glad to have retrieved. Along the way, I experienced a certain amount of traumatic flipping through pages of past events. I read the Sparrowhawk one tragic episode written up in a very grand style with an undercurrent of irony, and he laughed and said that I have "an indomitable sense of humor." I'll take that!

I also made out my grocery order--although I'm going to have to do another tomorrow to get some things that were overlooked. Yesterday, I spent a lot of time in concern for Queenie and the Fireman, who was having his cancer surgery. It took all day, and I could not do much except text Queenie and be available. Today, the Fireman is at home and in good shape. Everything seems to have gone well so far, so this is a source of much happiness! I was also very happy because a lot of small messages from people I love came in at the same time. Tron got the Valentine's Day candy we sent out, and replied with cute Bitmojis. The Nipper reported the same, plus the birthday card we sent the Redhead. He says she likes it so much she's keeping it in her planner. I wrote the Diva to tell her of my lovely dream in which she and her family came unexpectedly for a visit, and she texted back that she had just been looking at old pictures of the boys, and seeing that we were in them. Be still my heart . . . . In the dream, Angelbaby was growing a mustache. He didn't want to talk about it, but he let me hug him.
