PeaHen of Bluster
Feb. 17th, 2024 10:24 pmWe're back in the cold--only 22 degrees, which isn't really very cold, but with a nippy windchill, it feels bitter after the earlier warming trend. As long as the snow still covers my back yard, I am protected from remorse and dread about all the yard work I probably won't get around to. I slept better last night, but in order to catch up, I sleep later than I wanted to, so I don't get as much done as I would like. It's kind of a no-win situation. The Sparrowhawk accompanied me on a grocery run this morning. He wanted to come along because he's hosting his book club here tomorrow and had to choose some snacks for his pals. I needed to buy some pre-cooked chicken to make soup that I volunteered to bring to a women's retreat tomorrow afternoon. I'm deeply disappointed in this chicken. They never cook it enough. I wish I had time to make it my own chicken, but by the time I'm done with it, the store-bought version will be greatly improved. I disassembled the chickens and am making chicken stock now.
I found some sausage in the half-price bin and mixed it with ground beef to make spaghetti sauce for dinner. I dressed up the sauce from the jar, too--added onions, peppers, and mushrooms. It was pretty good. Another of my recent woes has been an unexplained spike in my blood pressure. I'm happy to say that has apparently gone back to normal. All these working bits that no longer work so well! I can hardly wait until people get their shiny new robot bodies, and then find out they'll be spending half of their extended lifespan in the shop--the literal shop rather than the figurative one we spend our days in now. Oh well, at least they often have coffee (bad coffee, but still free coffee) and sometimes cookies or doughnuts in the waiting room at the repair shop. That's more than they'll give you at the clinic.
