The evenings are so long these days, and the light so glorious! I wish I had the energy to frolic as long as the light lasts. It's been a pretty good Mother's Day--as good as it can be with no kids present! We talked to the Diva a couple of days ago, and Tron called after lunch, so we're not bereft of contact. I made some French toast, bacon, and strawberries for the father of my children. I also changed the sheets on the bed, washed the old ones, and did another load of napkins and dish towels and such. When dinner time rolled around, the Sparrowhawk made me some delicious steak, a baked potato, and green beans. The kids sent me a lovely group gift--the Bonne Maman jam sampler, which I adore. I've seen ads for it and thought "Now who could I send this delicious present to?" It turns out the lucky recipient is me! My breakfast toast will be enhanced for weeks to come. Tron sent me an exciting package separately, containing three different organic soap bars, some mini-lotions and eau de cologne, and one of those folding paper bouquets--also a thing I have admired without ever ordering one, so now I have one of my own.

After dinner, the Sparrowhawk and I went for a smallish walk. I drove up to the path we usually walk to, and we went around in the woods. We saw lots of lily of the valley and smelled its sweet scent, and also some wild geraniums. (Omg, I just looked up from my keyboard and saw a giant wild turkey perambulating haughtily through our back yard! The nerve of some critters!) He went slowly, but got along much better than he has in recent days. Tron posted some adorable pictures from the past, of me with various baby versions of the kids. So poignant. Sigh. And now we are tired again. We're kind of sleep-drunk, constantly thinking about going back to bed. Although that doesn't stop us from waking up far too early. It is a puzzle. . . .
