Yesterday: not my favorite day. One bright spot was testing negative for covid in the morning. This was good because it meant I was able to shuttle the Sparrowhawk to the ER without feeling that I would endanger someone else. This wasn't an "emergency" emergency. It was a Parkinson's related issue that his doctor advised could be best treated at the ER. The parking was completely messed up by construction, and there was also something going on related to a shooting that caused some police cars to be in my way, but we eventually found our way in. They were able to see him immediately, and everyone was super nice and helpful. A couple of hours later, the status quo was resolved or at least approximated, and we were home before dark. This is really something to marvel at. We've had such good luck at the ER. However, I did point out to the Sparrowhawk that he's been there twice this year, and is pushing his luck. It would be best for him to be stricter with his protocols and not become what they call a frequent flyer. Somewhat sheepishly, he admitted this was true, and thus my wrath was averted. I hastily prepared a spaghetti dinner, with sauce enriched with ground beef, sweet Italian sausage, peppers, onions, mushrooms, wine, and some fresh marjoram snippets from the back yard. We ate, and then exhaustion struck and we crashed.

Sadly, I didn't crash long enough. I woke up in the middle of the night with a thumping headache and a crick in my neck, both signs of stress, no doubt. I went downstairs to take some Advil and sit up for awhile until it finally had an effect. Eventually, I went back to sleep, but for only 5 hours total. As a result, I was not up for much today. I made one trip to get some pastries from the bakery outlet. Then I tried to nap, but couldn't fall asleep. Very suboptimal. Today's bright spot was a lovely FaceTime with the Diva. Her birthday was yesterday, but we mutually agreed that today would be a better day for a chat. On her actual birthday, she was throwing a Mother's Day party at her pre-school, a sweet and fun event that I was privileged to participate in a couple of years ago. All I need now is a few hours of sleep . . . .
